Sometimes being an independent artist means losing control over the very thing that defines us: our music. Like a lot of artists, I wanted a simple way to showcase my newest song the moment it dropped. But every time I released something, Spotify's player had other ideas. Instead of letting my latest work shine, it would get buried under 'top tracks.' Frustrating? Absolutely. It felt like my music was just floating around, waiting to be found rather than setting the stage the way I envisioned.
That's where Artist[Embed] comes in. I wanted a tool that would put the control back in my hands, one that would let me make sure my latest release was always front and center. As an artist, my goal was to let my listeners experience my music the way I intended, with the newest song right up front, not hidden in a lineup based on algorithms or popularity stats. Artist[Embed] started as a solution to a personal problem, but quickly, it became something more. It's a tool built for artists who, like me, need a better way to connect with listeners and showcase their work on their own terms.
Artist[Embed] isn't trying to be another music platform. It's not about creating a new streaming service or going head-to-head with the big players. Spotify, Apple Music, and others have their place, and we use them for reach. But Artist[Embed]? It's about ownership. It's about saying, 'Here's my latest track. Listen to this.' It's about presenting our art the way we want, without waiting for algorithms to catch up or for our music to gather enough traction to appear on a default 'top tracks' list.
The approach is simple and intentional, too. I didn't want it to be another complex tool where you're navigating endless features just to play a song. Pick a track, set the theme, and you're ready to go. No fuss, no hassle. It's 'set it and forget it' because I know that as artists, we'd rather be creating than tweaking endless settings.
And there's something else that makes Artist[Embed] different. I'm not a fan of monthly subscriptions for tools like this. Why? Because as artists, we already have plenty to budget for. I took a cue from DistroKid's approach, where you pay once for an upgrade and it's yours. With Artist[Embed], I wanted to create that same sense of accessibility. Artists can make a one-time investment in how they present their music without worrying about a recurring bill each month.
Artist[Embed] was created to give artists like us a voice in how our music lives online. It's about taking control of the listening experience, giving fans an easy way to hear what we're proud of right now, and showing the world what's new. It's for those of us who are tired of being passive passengers on someone else's platform. Artist[Embed] gives us a place to show up fully as artists, presenting our music with intention, one song at a time.
So here's to taking control. Here's to sharing our latest work on our own terms. Here's to a player that isn't just a tool but a reflection of the artist using it.
